Tributes To Two New England Basketball Hall of Fame Icons

In 2016, the New England Basketball Hall of Fame organized a wide ranging effort to nominate Dee Rowe for either induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in the contributor category, or to receive the prestigious Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame John Bunn Award. The New England Basketball Hall of Fame organized the collection of letters of support, which led to Coach Rowe’s being named the 2017 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame John Bunn Award Honoree.

In the near future, “The Basketball Bugle” will post a sampling of these extraordinary letters of support.

A Special Link Between These Two Great Men!

George Wigton served as UCONN Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach from 1958–62, and Interim UCONN Head Coach in the 1962–63 season.

Dee Rowe served as UCONN Head Men’s Basketball Coach from 1969–77.
